H is for…

HFor each letter I cut out those same letters out of hundreds of magazines (thank you VBPL for the free mags!), glued them on a paper background until the page was filled. Then I glued the page on a heavy cardboard background and chose 3D items that represent the letter gluing them on. I hope you enjoy my collages!

19-Somethin’ #18 & A to Z Update

This challenge is sponsored by P.S. Annie! It’s called 19-Somethin’, where participants answer a question about their past each day of September. Sounds like a fun way to spend a September, right?

19-Somethin_Sidebar_Button

  1. Did you like to roller skate? Did you go to a skating rink or did you skate on the sidewalk/street at home? If you went to the skating rink, did you spend more time skating or socializing?

I hated roller skating. I was and am still afraid of falling. I was seriously clumsy when I was a kid and fell a lot. Now my knees are shot after 20 years of food service and retail so a fall today would mean serious trouble for me!

A to Z Update!

I’ve been mostly focusing on the upcoming Halloween Challenge (click on the badge below for details to join in!) but I did work on the collages a bit.

I started on “C” – it may be finished but I haven’t decided yet.img_3941

“E” is just barely started.img_3942

“F” is mostly done – I’ll set it aside for a while and then look at it again; if I like it, then I’ll seal it, set it aside and it won’t see the light of day again until next year!img_3943

Click on the badge for more about the Halloween Challenge!! It’s open to all!!

A to Z Collage Update 090516!!

I finished!!!! All the letters of the alphabet are all finished! I started in May and it only took 3 months! “J” was my last one and my goal was to finish by the end of Summer – and I finished on August 31!!!! Here’s “J” –0905 j

In the end, I did have to cheat on”J” mainly because I didn’t want it to go on and on. I modified “Ts” and “Fs” to make “Js”.

Here is the final letter count – I won’t post the letter count again till next year!!!az 2017 count bw-20905 color

So now its on to the boring part of sealing all the letters – I’ve done about half. As soon as that’s done I’ll be doing the 3D items on the letters. I showed “H” last week – I’m not sure I’m satisfied with it – but I’ll work it out!

In the meantime, happy creating!!

A to Z Collage Update 082916!

I’m almost finished with the letters!!! Yippee!!  I finished Q and X this week! That means the only letter left is J! Here’s Q and X:

0829 q0829 x

I will admit I’ve cheated on the letters! Some of the Qs are Os with added squigglies. And at the very end I used 2 Vs to make Xs. Wish I had thought of that sooner!! I’m hoping by next post I’ll be finished with J. When I’m done with J I’ll share my cheats on that letter!

I thought I’d try out adding some 3-D elements; I had a ton of heart buttons and used them on the letter H. I’m not sure I like it – 0829 h0829 h detail I think it has to grow on me. Outlining the color letters is what I saw in my head but in reality I don’t know if it’s what I want to do. I’m still thinking that part through. Anyway, that’s where I’m at right now. Who knows where I’ll be in a week’s time!

Here’s the next to the last letter count! Color letter count hasn’t changed but the black and white letters have changed, of course. I’m wondering about the Q letter count. It seems a little low to me but I’m not going back and recounting!az 2017 count bw-1az 2017 count color-1

Since I am coming to the end of the weather challenge I’ve started a new project, altering a deck of cards!  I’ll start showing those probably next week. It’s been a long drought with me creatively speaking so now that the juices are flowing I am brimming with ideas!!! (The challenge goes on through May, 2017, but I’m almost finished creating my entries.)

Happy creating!!!
